Killarney National Park
Ireland's first National

Park was created in 1932 when the Muckross Estate which makes up the core of
the present day National Park was presented to the nation.
Situated in south-west Ireland, Killarney National Park covers
over 25,000 acres (10,000 hectares) of outstandingly beautiful mountain, moorland, woodland, waterways, parks and gardens.
The old red sandstone uplands support large areas of blanket bog coupled with the remoteness and relative
inaccessibility of some of these areas aids the continued survival of Ireland's only remaining wild herd of
native Red Deer.
More details of the park and its wide variation of flora and fauna can be found on
the Killarney National Park website
Ring of Kerry
The Ring of Kerry is a roughly circular tourist trail in County Kerry, south-western Ireland covering some 170 km
starting from Killarney, heading around the Iveragh Peninsula and passing through Kenmare, Sneem,
Waterville (favourite holiday spot of Charlie Chaplin), Cahersiveen and Killorglin.
There is also an established walking path named The Kerry Way, which takes its own route, and a
sign posted Ring of Kerry cycling path which uses older quieter roads where possible. The Kerry Way
roughly follows the scenic driving route of the Ring of Kerry.
Derrynane House
Derrynane House, now an Irish National Monument and part of a 320 acre National Park, was the
home of Irish politician and statesman, Daniel O'Connell. Since being opened as a museum in 1967 Derrynane House has
